Wigan Athletic Football Club are a professional football team based in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. In 2003, Wigan were promoted to the Football League Championship for the first time, and in 2005 came second in the Coca Cola Championship to gain promotion to the Premiership. During their first Premiership season they stunned the whole of English football.
